Tattoo Parlour
The Print Room is a tattoo parlour located in The Echo Building in Bournemouth. It offers something more than just body modification, it offers an experience. The clients walk into a large space full of things to do while they wait for their appointment. The parlour includes a shop and a café that offers locally-sourced food and drinks. Its aim is that everyone that visits has a relaxing and enjoyable experience and to offer the best possible service. The atmosphere is different than in other body modification parlours in that the Print Room is large, contemporary designed and full of life. The café is open for everyone, not only clients, so the place is always filled with people. The idea is for the Print Room to be like a body modification hub for artists and piercers from all over the world to visit. It brings people together, artists as well as clients and forms a big family-like community.
The section below shows most of the important areas of The Print Room. On the left is the artist studio, on top of the mezzanine is the tattoo area, under the mezzanine is the café, on the right are the piercing rooms and in the centre is the shop.
The tattoo area includes a sterilization room with a sink and cabinets with tattoo supplies. The area is split up into eight tattoo sections which include a tattoo bench, a free-standing task light, a cabinet on wheels and a chair.
The main materials used throughout the design are steel and glass, referencing the original steel structure of the building and its large windows.
